James Greer, 95 of Corsicana, Texas passed away peacefully in the early hours of August 19,2020. James was born in Uriah, AL on April 30, 1925, the son of Jessie James Greer and Mary B. Blackburn.
James served in World War II in the Navy from July 18, 1943 thru Feb. 23, 1946. He was honorably discharged at the rank of AMM2C. He moved to Odessa and worked as a machinist/sale representitive from 1951 to 1988 for Miether Machine Works. He retired in 1988 to his lake house on Lake Leon outside of Eastland, Texas.
He was married to Julia B. Melton on May 12, 1945 and celebrated 54 years of marriage. Some of his most enjoyable memories was spent with his family on Lake Leon, fishing on vacations back in Alabama, and hunting.
He is preceded in death by his father Jessie Greer; mother Mary Blackburn Greer; Rita Lynch, daughter; Judy Foster, daughter; Jennifer McKinzie, granddaughter.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra Taylor; son James Greer Jr. and wife Marilyn Scott Greer of Corsicana; granddaughter, Amanda Pinson of Mansfield; grandson, Stuart McKinzie of Chicago IL; grandson, Logan Lynch of Odessa, TX; granddaughter, Sarah Avera of Andrews, TX; son-in -law, Mike Lynch, and wife Paula Lynch, and numerous great grandchildren.
