RANGER – James A. Harper, age 91, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Eastland. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 16th at Harmony Baptist Church, 126 CR 334, Eastland, TX, 76448 at 2:00 PM. Local arrangements are directed by Edwards Funeral Home Eastland.
James was born March 1, 1932 in Kilbourne, Louisiana to Gertie Meeks Harper and B.O. Harper. He married Dena Clark May 14, 1955 in Oak Grove, Louisiana. James served his country in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and then worked in the oil field as a mechanic.
James is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dena Harper; 3 daughters, Sharon Witt and husband Russell of Odessa, Donna Clark and husband Glenn of Ranger, and Rebecca Layman and husband Shannon of Eastland; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
