James Nesbert Stuart

James Nesbert Stuart, age 85, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Services for James will be at 2 PM Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Leon River Cowboy Church in Olden, TX. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 – 6 PM Sunday, February 3 at Edwards Funeral Home, 215 Housley St., Strawn, TX. Burial will be at the Davidson Cemetery.
James was born August 15, 1933 in Strawn to Sylvester Nesbert and Sarah Rose Naylor. He grew up in Strawn and was a graduate of Strawn High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. On May 29, 1992 he married Marilyn Kay Barber in Ulysses, KS. He was a member of the Leon River Cowboy Church in Olden, TX.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn, son James Nesbert Stuart, II; daughters, Tammy Sue Webb and Rebecca Jane Whitehurst; stepsons, Todd Brian Burpo and Scott Russell Burpo; stepdaughter, Marilyn Dawn Burpo, fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ross Burton Stuart and sister, Isabel Giles.
