James David Swindell, 77 of Ranger, passed away Tuesday June 5, 2018 in Ranger. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Eastland.
James was born December 20, 1940 in Seagraves, TX to William David Swindell and Doris E. (Ragsdale) Swindell. He received an Associate Degree from Odessa College for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He served in the U.S. Military from 1958 until 1960.
He married Linda Cates in 1958 and they had four children; JaLynn, Duane, Kim, and Kelli. He moved to Wyoming in 1967, and returned to Texas in 1972. He later married Sue Ann Tanner, in 1974, and they had two children; Steven and Crystal. He worked in the oil field until 1990. He then worked in schools systems until retiring in 2012 when he moved to Ranger, TX.
He was preceded in death by his son, Duane Swindell; and daughter, Kelli Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Ann Swindell of Ranger, TX; son, Steven Tanner of Mertzon, TX; three daughters, JaLynn Hogan and Crystal Heuman both of Odessa, TX, Kim Bourdeau of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Don Swindell and wife Teresa of Ranger, TX; sister, Jerry Cox of Ranger, TX; five granddaughters, Jamie Hogan of Sulphur Springs, Brittany Dodds and Kristen Bourdeau both of Scottsdale, AZ, Stephanie Swindell of Pulaski, TN, and Amber Tanner of Mertzon, TX; and one grandson, Vincent Tanner of Mertzon, TX.
