James Floyd Williams, 83, of Eastland, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Eastland, Texas
Services will be Saturday January 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Eastland with Dr. Shawn Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastland Cemetery.
Floyd was born March 27, 1931 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Homer W. and Rebecca Williams. He served in the United States Navy on a destroyer escort. He married Joy Grimes of De Leon, Texas on May 29, 1950 in Rockwall, Texas. They lived in San Diego, California while he was stationed there. Floyd learned to cut hair in the Navy and attended Barber College in Fort Worth, Texas after he was discharged from the Navy.
They moved to Eastland, Texas in 1964 where he and Joy made their home and raised 4 daughters. He opened the Maverick Barber Shop in 1966 where he worked until he retired. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Eastland until his death.
Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Joy Williams; his parents; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and 1 son-in-law, Larry Pierce.
He is survived by one sister, Imogene Craig of Rogers, Arkansas; daughters Judy Beskow and husband Randy of College Station, TX, Joy Pence and husband Ronny of Cisco, TX, Jean Limmer and husband Alvin of Plano, TX, and Janet Halliday and husband Neil of Red Oak, TX; grandchildren Shane Pierce and wife Carrie, Kelley O' Bannion and husband Michael, Jami Arnold and husband Scotty, David Limmer, Clay Pence and wife Laney, Jon Beskow and wife Tina, Sarah Limmer, and Erica Stover and husband Kris, and 24 great grandchildren.
