Jeptha Jolly,

November 17, 1924 — September 4, 2013

Dr. J.O. Jolly, Jr, 88, of Eastland, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in Eastland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Shawn Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home from 5~7:00 P.M. Dr. Jolly was born on November 17, 1924 in Fort Worth to Jeptha Osceola Jolly, Sr. and Cora Edith Saxon. The son of a Baptist minister, he lived in various places and graduated high school in 1942 in Dangerfield, Texas. He was attending Junior College when drafted, where he served in the Army Air Corp from April, 1943 until October, 1945 during which time he was held captive in Germany for almost a year. After the war he returned home and attended Baylor University and the Baylor University School of Dentistry in Dallas, graduating in December, 1950. He married Rubye Lee Tackett on April 8, 1950 in Stephenville. He practiced dentistry in Eastland from 1951 to 1995. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church where he most recently has been the Sunday School teacher for the special needs adults class for about 30 years. He had been a member of the Lions Club, and Rotary Club. He was also a member of the ADA, and TDA. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Rubye Lee Jolly of Eastland; a son, Allan Wayne Jolly and wife Anne of Castle Rock, CO; 2 daughters, Jan Trout and husband Terry of Eastland, and Christy Luecke of Abilene; a sister, Helen Taylor of Longview; 7 grandchildren, Emily McComack and husband Jason of San Antonio, Sara Parsons and husband Shane of Weatherford, Leann & Sarah Luecke of Abilene, Brooke Marolt and husband Miles of Denver, CO, and Cameron & Ryan Jolly of Castle Rock, CO; and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to State and Lottie Moon Missions at the First Baptist Church in Eastland, 405 S. Seaman St, Eastland, TX 76448.
