EASTLAND - Jerrel Elwin (Mac) McKelvain passed from this life on November 19, 2012 at 95 years of age. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 21st at the Bakker Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00 at the funeral home.

Elwin was born on June 9, 1917 a few miles East of Moran, Texas, to John Edward and Ramie Josephine (Seela) McKelvain. He was married on April 7, 1939 to Burva Clemmer. Together they faced many hardships, raised 5 children, and enjoyed many good years together. They had been married for 54 years, when she passed away in 1993.

During his early life he primarily worked in the oilfield, and other jobs as needs dictated. In 1951, Elwin moved with his growing family to Eastland, where he would call home for the rest of his life. In 1960 he began working for Fullen Motor Company, and would continue there as a paint and body man until his first retirement in 1983. Very shortly after retirement, bored with not working, he began work for Fullen again as a driver on new vehicle deliveries, dealer trades, etc. He stayed on the road in this capacity for another 26 years' until his second retirement in 2009, at age 92.

Elwin was known by everyone to be honest, sincere, dedicated, and honorable in all things. He will be missed by all who knew him. Above all, he will be missed by his family, as they were his absolute priority for his long, and mile-worn life.

His parents; his wife; a brother, Dwayne Mckelvain; sisters, Ina, Reba, Georgia, and Edna; and a granddaughter, Whitney Meagan Thomas, preceded him in death.

He is survived by three daughters, Gearl Dean McCrary and husband Darby, Carolyn Clanton and husband Eugene, and Margaret L'Hommidieu and husband Richard; two sons, Danny McKelvain, and David McKelvain; Six grandchildren, Becky McCrary, Beth King and husband Billy, Dana Parsons and husband Randy, Clinton Easter, Nick Mckelvain and wife Sarah, and Gena McCormick and husband Rodney; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
