Jerry L. Southerland

Jerry L. Southerland, age 78, passed away at his home on November 22, 2014. He was a long time Eastland resident. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, Nov. 25th at the Merriman Cemetery.

Jerry was born in Grandfield, OK on September 26, 1936. Mr. Southerland’s survivors include his wife of 58 years, Eva Southerland, four children; Ronnie Southerland, Sherry Maxey, Leaha Southerland, and Loanna Star, three grandchildren; Anthony Starr, Christy Maggio, and Ressie Southerland, one great granddaughter; Elaina Maggio, two brothers; Bert and Merl Southerland of Amarillo, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Southerland served in Vietnam for 17 months with the 2nd Bn. 44th Arty. 555 unit. He retired as CW2 U.S. Army. He received many medals and awards including the Bronze Star. He worked for AMPI of Stephenville, Texas for 16 years before retirement. Mr. Southerland was an active member of the Grace Baptist Church and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
