Jerry Gene Thomas, age 72, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 7, 2017 at his
home after a long battle with cancer. Services for Jerry will be at 11 am Wednesday at the Lone Camp
Community Center in Lone Camp, TX. Visitation will be Tuesday night 6-8pm also at the Lone Camp
Community Center. Burial will be at the Santo North Cemetery in Santo, TX.
Jerry Thomas was born June 4, 1944 in Dallas, TX to Roland and Dorothy Jett Thomas. He married
Sharon Jones August 18, 1963 in Ft. Worth, TX. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Harding College
and went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Education from TCU. He worked as a coach and teacher
for over 20 years (1970 to 1994) in the Ft. Worth Public School System including Rosedale Middle
School, Trimble Tech High School (his alma mater) and Arlington Heights High School. He continued his
career as an administrator at various schools in the Metroplex. Jerry was a member of the Texas High
School Coaches Association, a member of the Crowley ISD School Board (1980’s) and a member of the
Church of Christ at Lone Camp. Jerry loved to fish, to play golf and to watch his sons’ and grandkids’
activities and to encourage young people.
Jerry is survived by his wife Sharon Thomas of Lake Palo Pinto, sons: Barry Thomas and wife Lori, Mark
Thomas and fiancé Shannon, and Matthew Thomas and wife Kelly, one brother Mike Thomas and wife
Mary, and one sister, Carolyn Langston and husband Jackie. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren:
Grant Thomas, Blake Thomas, Caleb Thomas, Hannah Thomas, Brent Rogers, Haley Rogers, Hunter
McCoy, Emerson Perry, Shelby Perry and Brittney Kato.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fosters Home for Children in Stephenville,
TX.
