It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Jessie Rowlett Joyner, age 77, of Ranger, Texas. Jessie left this world peacefully on April 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength.

Born on November 12, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas, Jessie was the cherished daughter of Joseph Edward Herbst and Willie Mae Reese Herbst. She dedicated her life to her family and community, exemplifying kindness and warmth to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

On May 20, 1967, Jessie united in marriage with her beloved husband, Gorman Wayne Joyner. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual support, providing a firm foundation for their life together.

Jessie contributed to her community through her work at Playoff Sports in Eastland, where she forged many lasting friendships. She later worked at Eastland and DeLeon Cleaners.

She was a member of the Leon River Cowboy Church in Olden, TX. She enjoyed making huggy bears with some of her friends. She also loved to do genealogy.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Gorman Wayne Joyner; several nieces, Shelly Baker, Taressa Herbst, Deanna Greene and her son Shane Greene; a nephew, Jim Humphery and wife Desiree and their children; and several great nieces and nephews; an adopted daughter, Denise Landon and her husband Darren; an adopted granddaughter, Kristen Berry and her husband Jon; and three great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Olivia, and Madelynn.

She is also survived by four nieces on her husband's side, Diane Rushing, Elaine Penny and husband Wally, Beverly Drake, and Cindy William.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Edward Herbst and Willie Mae Reese; a brother, Bobby Dell Herbst, and a sister, Vanolah Humphrey.

A memorial service in honor of Jessie will be announced at a later date, allowing friends and family to gather and celebrate the remarkable life she lived. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gorman, who will carry her memory in his heart forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jessie's name may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
