Jewell Dee Layne Smith

Jewell D. Smith, passed from this life November 5, 2019 at her home in Strawn, Texas. Jewell was born August 23, 1926 to Benjamin H. Layne and Susan Roberson Layne in Strawn, Texas. She attended Strawn Schools and Beauty College and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Services will be at the Church of Christ in Gordon at 2 p.m. Friday, November 8th with burial in Mount Marion Cemetery in Strawn, Texas. A visitation will be at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn on Thursday, November 7th 5~7 p.m.
Jewell is survived by one son, James E. Smith and wife Mary; one daughter, Deborah Keating and husband John; one sister, Jacquelyn Parsons; grandchildren, John Keating III and wife Nicki, Cindy Gierisch and husband Keith, and Jason Smith; great grandchildren, Zachary Gierisch, Riley Gierisch, and Trace Gierisch.
Those that preceded her in death are parents, Benjamin and Susan Layne; husband, William E. Smith; brothers, Thurman B. Layne and William B. (Bill) Layne; and sisters, Anna Mae Chamberlain, Sylvia L. Danner, and Lois L. Jones.
