Jodee A. Flippin, beloved husband, father and grandfather, age 65, of Eastland, Texas passed from this world Tuesday June 3, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. In honor of his life, a visitation will be held from 5 – 7 pm on Thursday, June 5 at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, June 6 at the First Baptist Church of Eastland. Jodee will be laid to rest at the Eastland City Cemetery yet is soul will be raised in glory.
Jodee was born February 7, 1949 in Hobbs, NM to Thomas and Wanda Flippin. On April 12, 1969 he married the love of his youth, Patty Rose Ristesund Flippin in Howard, South Dakota. Jodee graduated from Tarleton State University with his Bachelors of Arts in December 1992 (Magna Cum Laude). He went on to earn his Masters of Arts Teaching from Tarleton in December 1993.
Jodee lived in Minnesota, Oklahoma and Texas and worked various jobs over the years including position in the US Postal Service and the oilfield. He has been a resident of Eastland, Texas for the last 30 years and spent the last 15 years working at Kinnard, Rossander and Perry Agency as an Insurance Agent.
Jodee was a devote member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Eastland for many years. He was also a member of the local Kiwanis Club and he enjoyed many morning cups of coffee with his brothers in Christ. Jodee spent much of his free time as an attentive grandfather, attending countless swim meets, piano recitals, soccer games, gymnastic performances and birthday parties.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Patty Rose Flippin, son David and wife Leah Flippin of Weatherford, daughter Dawn and husband Dean Rudolph of Dripping Springs, daughter, Angela and husband Heath Hayes of Stephenville and son James Flippin also of Stephenville; grandchildren Jordan, Jakobe, Hannah, Jason, Matthew, Mason and Laura. He is also survived by a brother Mack Flippin, sister Denise Flippin and sister-in-law Patty Ann Flippin and many loving extended family members.
Jodee was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Wanda, two brothers Pete and Gale Flippin and one dearly loved son Jason Ray Flippin.
