Joe A. Delgado, 90, of Strawn and formerly of the Black Jack Community, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Stephenville. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Strawn with Rev. Mike Orsini officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Marion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn on Thursday from 6 until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Delgado was born on August 2, 1921 in Lyra, TX to Margarito & Camila Delgado. He graduated from Strawn High School. He married Opal Spurlock in September, 1955 in Houston. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until 1945. He was a welder and furniture maker. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Blackjack Baptist Church in Murchison, TX where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Patrick J. Delgado; 5 sisters, Nellie McGough, Mary Carlin, Claudia Monti, Lucille Tretter and Lenora Gutierrez; and 2 brothers, Paul Delgado and Tony Delgado.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Delgado; a son, George H. Delgado; 2 brothers, Frank Delgado and Phillip Delgado; 4 sisters, Rose Eagen, Louise Conway, Juanita Frazier and Angelina Salinas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
