Lubbock- Funeral services for Joe W. Taylor will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland with Larry Roberts officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00a.m at the church. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Landreth Cemetery in Palo Pinto County. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.
Joe passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on July 6, 1931 in Lipan, Texas to Maurice and Mattie Lee (Haney) Taylor. He served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean Conflict as a aircraft mechanic instructor. He married the love of his life, Fern White on April 4, 1954. They were married for 60 years until her passing. Joe started working at Eastland National Bank in 1976 serving 20 years. Upon his retirement, he and Fern, enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their RV with their friends. Joe was an Elder at the Daugherty Street Church of Christ for 31 years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe enjoyed watching all sports and he loved Texas High School Football with the Eastland Mavericks holding a special place in his heart. He moved to Lubbock to be near his son when Fern passed away.
Survivors include his son, Clay Taylor and wife, Christi; grandchildren, Kirstie Miller and husband, Todd, Kelsie Taylor, Brooke Stice and husband, Keaton and Erica Bickerstaff; great-grandchildren, Wrenley, Hayden, Gabby, Leah, Lilly and Wyatt; a sister, Barbara (Taylor) Royal and husband, Larry two nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Mattie Lee Taylor; wife, Fern Taylor; sister, Dorotha Gaines and great-granddaughter, Clara.
Pallbearers are; Todd Miller, Keaton Stice, Paiden Schumacher, Bill Dolen, Kenneth McKillip and Jerry Howard.
