Joel Glenn Maxwell, 83, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, January 10, 2021.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Edward Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland, TX. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Joel was born July 13, 1937, in Carbon, TX to Harvey and Julia Maxwell.
He married his high school sweetheart, Norma Jean Robinson, on August 26, 1955. In 1956, Joel took a job with Phillips Petroleum and moved to Kansas in 1984 and retired from Praxair in 2000. He had recently moved to Amarillo to be near family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Maxwell; son, Marc Maxwell; his twin sister, Grace Lynn; sisters, Faye and Inez; and five brothers, Elzie, Aubrey, J.M., Calvin, and Bert.
Survivors include a son, Randall Maxwell and wife Patti, of Moscow, KS; a daughter, Karen Cress and husband Fred, of Amarillo, TX; two brothers, Harrell Maxwell, of Borger, TX and Leroy Maxwell, of Eastland, TX; five grandchildren, Jody and Christi Cress, of Rogers, AR, Nikki and Steve Thurman, of Lawton, OK, Carissa and Israel Spears, of El Reno, OK, James Maxwell, of Amarillo, TX, and Malissa Denton, of Liberal, KS; and several great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to OPSU in memory of Glenn to the Marc Maxwell scholarship, P.O. Box 430 Goodwell, OK 73939.
