John Wesley “Dub” Hurt, Jr., age 80, went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Woodlands in Eastland. There will be a memorial service at 1 pm Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Daugherty St. Church of Christ at 309 S. Daugherty St. in Eastland.
Dub was born October 5, 1937 in Lamkin, TX to Maddie Davis and John Wesley Hurt, Sr. He was a graduate of Gustine, TX. He married Melba Jo Nabors ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬on April 3, 1998 in Olden and have been residents Olden for the last 20 years. Dub was a pecan wholesaler and chicken rancher by trade. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and could tell some really big tales, in fact he was a world class “BSer”.
He was a member of the Daugherty St. Church of Christ, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Farm Bureau Insurance and was a Mason.
Dub in survived by his loving wife, Melba, 2 sons; Wesley Hurt and wife Bonnie of Gatesville, Weldon Hurt and wife Debbie of Abilene, grandkids; Bryson, Branson and J.W. and 3 great-grandkids. He is also survived by 2 brothers; Bill Byrum and wife Dora of Comanche, Robert Hurt and wife Pam of Gustine, and a sisters, Martha Dobyns and husband Don of Georgetown and Ann Wright.
He is preceded in death by sisters Jean Walker, Wanda Burns, Linda Shifflett, and Velda Stapp.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the church.
