John Kenneth Smith was born September 28, 1941 and passed away April 3, 2022.
His survivors are Darla, his wife of fifty-seven years, daughter, Shannon (Shelly) Michelle Smith and husband Gregory Scott Sinclair, and their son, Cody Smith Sinclair.
He was the only child of Janette (Jane) Jones Smith and G.W. Smith, who both preceded him in death. Ken was born at Blackwell Hospital in Gorman, Texas, grew up in Grapevine, Texas, and later moved to Eastland, Texas in 1997 where he lived until his passing.
He bought his first semi-trucks when he was 21 years old and ran Nu-Way and Dal-Tex Trucking Companies for twenty-three years.
He began riding cutting horses in the 1980’s and competed in the National Cutting Horse Futurity and the Super Stakes. Competing, training, and breeding cutting horses was his passion. Although his greatest passion was teaching God’s Word. He taught children, teenagers, and adults for 56 years. The impact of his life as a faithful servant will continue through eternity and his gift to us is that we will meet again in Heaven.
The family will be holding a Memorial Service for John, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Leon River Cowboy Church located at 491 CR 447, Olden, TX 76466.
