Johnnie James “Red” Jones, age 90, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. He was born December 23, 1932 in Bishop, TX to the late Charles Jones and Elia (Miller) Jones.
Red, as many knew him, was a down-to-earth, all-around great guy and friend. He was a people person and made friends wherever he went. Red was an amazing cook and could “Fry barbeque ribs on the grill”! He was known for his homemade chili and spaghetti. Red had a smile and laugh that was contagious to anyone around. When you walked in the room, you were naturally drawn to him. He would give the shirt off his back to help others in need and didn’t like trouble. If someone had a problem, Red had a way of settling it before it ever came through the door. He was a one-of-a-kind, good-hearted, family man and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his sons: Andy of Ranger, Larry of Austin, Henry and Lawrence of Dallas, and Famous, Ricky and Chris of Ranger; one daughter: JoAnn of Dallas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
He was met at the Pearly gates by his wife: Barbara Nadine Jones; parents: Charles and Elia Jones; sons: Adrian, Gerald, Johnnie Ray, Iris, Billy, Harold, ; brother: Charles; sisters: L.E and Frankie Mae.
A family visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm, Monday, June 5, 2023 at Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger.
