Juanita (Nita) Rose Whaley passed away on October 21st, 2013 in Abilene, TX. Graveside services will be officiated by Doke Johnson and held at Murray Cemetery on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister.
Born August 20th, 1939 to William Lee Harvey and Emma Rose Akridge Patterson. She was raised in various Texas towns until the family finally settled in Breckenridge, TX. As a little girl, Nita loved spending time with her grandparents in Carbon. Eventually, she became a resident of Eastland and has lived in the community off and on for over fifty years.
In 1957 Nita married, and had two beautiful little girls (who she declared were the lights of her life). It was during these years that Nita stayed home to tend to her children.
Nita wore many hats throughout her lifetime. Over the years, she worked as a clerk in an Eastland drug store, and spent many years working in retail.
Nita loved to karaoke and meet new people, she loved her daughters, her sons in law, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her brothers and sisters.
Nita was proceeded in death by her parents; her brother Charlie Patterson of Breckenridge; her sister Gwen Cravens of Abilene; and her son in law, Terry Peeples of Eastland.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathi Johnson and husband Doke of Eastland, Tx; and Kerri Peeples of Eastland, Tx. Eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters, Johnny Patterson and wife Earlene of Marble Falls; Bobby Patterson of Breckenridge, Tx; Rebecca Perry of Frisco, Tx; Lee Patterson of Abilene, Tx; George Patterson and wife Theresa of Sebastopol, Tx; and Molly Buller and husband Rickey of Breckenridge, Tx. She had many nieces and nephews.
Nita...Nan, will be missed. She loved her family and was truly loved in return.
