Kenneth Lee Roberson

December 29, 1933 — October 28, 2015

Kenneth was born on December 29, 1933 in Caddo, Texas to David Edward and Lena Mae Roberson and spent most of his childhood near Strawn, Texas. In 1952 he met his true love, Marion Genelle Black, where she worked as a car hop at the Porky Pig Drive-in. In 1953 her mother tried to intervene, thinking at 15 she was too young to fall in love. She sent Genelle to Newfoundland, Canada to stay with her brother, Ealy, who was stationed there with the US Air Force. Love prevailed and they married on October 2, 1954 and soon after he was drafted into the US Army where he served in Nuremberg, Germany for two years.

The couple was blessed with four children and bought a home in Strawn where they began to raise their family. Kenneth worked for Montgomery Ward as an appliance technician and then as driver for RJ Caraway delivering propane. He started the first local Boy Scouts chapter and Genelle started the Cub Scouts chapter and they always took the girls along on their adventures with the boys.

In 1972, the family moved to Houston, Texas where Kenneth began his carpentry trade. He excelled in the trade and within a year he started Roberson Trim & Cabinets. They decided to move to the country and soon found their home at 35 (now 19429) Walnut Hills in Conroe, Texas. It was there that he and Genelle became experts in raising teenage girls. They continued to instill strong morals and a love of family into their children. Known as Uncle Kenny, he and Genelle helped raise other children and his door was always open to anyone in need. He passed his trade onto three of his children who continue to work in the field today. His grandchildren will remember him for not only his patience, but also his willingness turn his head when they were being mischievous, to build them wooden weaponry and for his tractor adventures. In 2004, Kenneth and Genelle celebrated their golden anniversary and in 2008 she passed away and he never really recovered. On October 28, 2015, Kenneth passed away in his home with his family.

He was survived by his four children- Kenneth Mark of Fort Worth, Texas, Marion Christyne White and husband Jerry of Moss Hill, Texas, Rhonda Renee Higgins and husband Brian of Humble, Texas, Carla Kay Oakley and husband Keith of New Caney, Texas; ten grandchildren- Robert Lynn Sheats, Heather Jonet Guy and husband Scotty, Brandon Erick Roberson, Ashley Nicole Moseley and husband Joshua, Brett Allen Gage and wife Bobbie, Amanda Fay Higgins, Ethan Allen Oakley, Casey Lee Gage, Caleb Michael Higgins, and Justin Garrett Oakley; grandaughter-in-law, Amanda Hagaman; five great-grandchildren- Summer Michelle Sheats, Tyler Jackson Daniel Eames, Madison Ann Hagaman, Molly Ann Guy, William Roberson Moseley, and one sister- Dorothy Mae Snyder of Lindale, Texas.
