Larry Rodgers, age 77, of Eastland, TX passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, May 14th at First Baptist Church in Eastland with Pastor Andy Rodgers officiating. Visitation prior at 1pm.
Larry Edward Rodgers was born December 10, 1943 in Gorman, TX to parents Alvis Edward Rodgers and Margaret Marcelle Locke. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1962, then from Abilene Christian University in 1967. After serving in the Marine Corps Reserves, he had a long career in oil & gas before retiring as a Parole Officer. He was an avid reader, enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, his family, old movies, and telling jokes.
Larry and Betty Lou Clark were married October 14, 1968 and raised three children in Abilene, Allison Hutcherson and husband Jeff, Amy Teeter and husband Wesley, and Andy Rodgers and wife Ashley. Larry had nine grandchildren, Sydney Teeter, Curran Hutcherson, Hunter Hutcherson, AnnaKate Rodgers, Shayley Teeter, Corban Hutcherson, Anson Rodgers, Avery Rodgers, and Antley Rodgers. He later married Bonnie Gardner on December 10, 2011 where they attended First Baptist Church of Eastland. They enjoyed 8 years together before she passed. He was welcomed into her family by two step-sons, Rodney Browning and wife Misty, Billy Bob Browning and wife Chasady, and five step-grandchildren, Hunter Browning, Sierra Browning, Bo Browning, Bailey Browning, and Cason Browning. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Rodgers and wife Cindy, and their two sons, Greg and Blair Rodgers.
