EASTLAND – Larry Dewayne Rollins, 69, of Eastland, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mangum Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Simpson Cemetery under direction of Edwards Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 5~7:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.
Larry was born on January 14, 1945 in Harlingen, Texas to Francis Monroe Rollins and Thelma Bobbie Hill Rollins. Larry married Lessie LaJuan Dorsey on August 6, 1964 in Carbon, Texas. He worked for the Coca-Cola Company in Abilene and retired after 42 years then later worked for the Eastland ISD. Larry was a Boy Scout Leader, baseball/softball coach, member of the Jaycee’s and a Deacon at Mangum Baptist Church. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Larry is survived by his mother Bobbie Rollins of Eastland, TX, wife LaJuan Rollins of Eastland, 2 brothers Phillip and Julie Rollins of Louisiana and Gary and Patty Rollins of Eastland, Children Bekky Rollins Rogers of Eastland and Rowdy and Tavia Rollins of Eastland, 4 grandchildren Ashley Rogers of Austin, Danielle and Courtney Rogers of Eastland, and Matthew Rollins of Eastland, and great grandchild Alexander Monroe Rogers of Eastland. Honorary grandchildren who he loved and cared for as his own Chase and Morgan Smith of Mount Pleasant, Texas. As well as many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Larry enjoyed yearly vacations to Cloudcroft, NM with his grandchildren and he touched the lives of many people throughout the years and will remain alive in the memories.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association, or to Mangum Baptist Church P.O. Box 504 Eastland, TX. 76448.
