Rena LaVonne Lovelace, 86, of Eastland, passed away Tuesday September 18, 2018, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Eastland City Cemetery with Randy West officiating. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, September 23, 2018.
LaVonne was born July 13, 1932 in Spade, TX, a community near Littlefield, to Sidney Hood and Tennie LaRena (Elmore) Peel. She graduated from Eastland High School and later Draughon’s Business School in Abilene, TX. LaVonne lived in Austin, TX for over 40 years and was a member of Manchaca Baptist Church in Austin.
LaVonne worked in state government, business, and education. Her most important mission was to be a good Mother and Homemaker, both accomplished by her strong faith. She was known for her sense of humor and great patience.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray Peel; and granddaughter, Cynthia Pardini.
Survivors include sons, Danny West and wife Barbara, Ronny West and wife Beth, and Randy West and wife Kim; a daughter, Susan Cooper and husband Gene; grandchildren, Margaret West, Charlie Pardini, Karen Hayslett, Chelsea West, Hamilton West, and Benjamin West; her sister and best friend, Sara Peel; nephews, Mike Peel and wife Linda, Wayne Peel and wife Toni, and Daryl Peel; nieces, Lesa Hertel and husband Steve, and Gena Muehlstein; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cook Scholarship Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church, 304 S. Commerce, Russellville, AR 72801 or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
