Lewis Wayne Hutchens passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 28, 2021 and went to be with Jesus at the age of 81 years.
Lewis was born Dec. 24, 1939 and was raised the majority of his early life in Goree, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and after returning from service he met and married his soulmate Veda Joyce Smith and together they had four daughters. He spent eight years as a master plumber and later worked for TXU where he retired in 1996. He was a member of Mangum Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Theodore and Colene Kirk Hutchens, brothers Billy Don & Jerry Lynn, and daughter Tammy Deneen Bryan.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Veda Joyce Hutchens, his siblings David Lee, Gary Kirk, Glenda Sue, and Mary Loretta, and his daughters and their husbands: Laura & Jeffery (J.J.) Caswell of Snyder, TX; Kathy & Ben Wright of San Angelo, TX; and Patricia & Phillip Allen of Gail, TX.
He leaves behind a legacy of love for Christ, his wife, and for his girls. He was most proud of his huge, loving family and most enjoyed family gatherings with his daughters, his 10 grandchildren: Jessica Caswell Norvell, Zachary Bryan, Patricia Wright Boone, Terry Wright, Dylan, Hannah, and Cooper Caswell, and Emory, Seth, and Zane Allen, as well as his 9 (almost 10) great-grandchildren: Natalie and Naomi Norvell, Mason Bryan, Raylan and Sutton Boone, Braylee Wright, Maci and Riley Caswell, Oakley and Baby Boy Allen who all called him Poppy.
Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 29th at 2pm at Edwards Funeral Home, Eastland, TX.
