The last surviving member of the Olden High School class of 1940 has gone to be with the Lord. Lilly LaVell Hazard, 96, of San Antonio, (formerly of Eastland, Lake Leon, and Cisco) passed away at her son’s home on Friday, September 11, 2020.
A graveside service will be held September 19 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eastland cemetery with the Reverend Andrew Jennings officiating under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.
Lilly was born December 31, 1923 at home between Staff and Merriman, Texas to the late Robert Parker and Irene Westbrook Parker.
Lilly married Maurice Hazard on March 31, 1941 in Eastland, Texas. They were married 55 years. A son,Don, was born in July 1942.
Lilly was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Maurice Hazard. Lilly was also preceded in death by her brother Robert Lee Parker; sisters Marieta Crume, Vita Cash, Viola Griffith, Juanita Snow, and Etta Layton.
Lilly is survived by her son Don and wife Carolyn of San Antonio; granddaughters Lisa Dunn (Keith) of San Antonio and Lauren Jennings (Andrew) of Springdale, Arkansas; six great grandchildren; Nick Dunn, Zack Dunn, Emily Dunn, Anna Jennings, Ethan Jennings and Luke Jennings. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
