Lily Lorene Venable Blue

GORDON – Lily Lorene Venable Blue, 100, of Gordon, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Stephenville. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Gordon Church of Christ with William Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Gordon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn on Friday from 6 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Blue was born on November 10, 1914 in Gordon to Charlie B. Venable and Elle (Welch) Venable. She married Clemon L. “Cub” Blue on December 22, 1934 in Erath County. She worked outside the home at several different jobs while raising 7 children. She was a wonderful cook, a loving mother and grandmother as well as a long-time member of the Gordon Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Clifford Harris; 2 grandsons, Randy Harris and Rodney Blue, Jr; a brother, Tommy Venable; and 2 sisters, Annie Busby and Frances Wylie.
Survivors include 5 sons, Richard of Gordon, Wayne of Carrollton, Don of Cedar Creek, Burl of Lewisville, and Rodney of Jasper, TN; 2 daughters, Belva Riddle of Mineral Wells, and Carol Harris of Pahrump, NV; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
