Lois L. Marshall

Lois L. Marshall, age 94, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at her home. There will be a memorial service for Lois at 11:00 am Saturday, April 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Eastland. A private burial will take place at the Eastland City Cemetery.
Lois Lerlene Bolding Marshall was born February 7, 1924 in Oscar, Oklahoma to Dee M. and Eunice Lerlene Gilliam Bolding. She was a graduate of Forney High School and went on to receive her B.A. degree from Texas State College for Women in Denton and her M.A. degree from the University of Texas. She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Black Jack, Texas and taught in Kaufman, Sunnyvale, Forney, and Olney.
At Olney High School, where she was the junior and senior English teacher, she met and married Charles P. Marshall, the football coach, in 1952. They moved to Eastland in 1955. In addition to two years teaching at Cisco Junior College, she taught 28 years in Eastland schools, including her final 14 years as the junior and senior English teacher at Eastland High School.
Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eastland where she was the long-time teacher of the Suzannah Sunday School class and served on the Church Board. She was a member of the Thursday Afternoon Club, Eastland County Retired Teachers Association, and a 55-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
In 1994, the Eastland School District dedicated the new gymnasium and athletic complex as the “Charles P. and Lois Marshall Sports Complex” to honor the Marshall’s 62 years of combined active service to Eastland students.
Lois is survived by her sons, Charles T. Marshall and wife Jo-Anne of Dallas and John D. Marshall also of Dallas; a brother, Harold Bolding of Garland; and sisters Doris Anderson of Whitney and Sandra Brown of Forney. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Elliott Marshall and wife CeCe, Haley Marshall, Shelby Marshall, Emma Marshall, Grace Marshall, and Graham Marshall.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband and her sister Alta Morris.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Marshall Scholarship Fund at First Financial Bank in Eastland or the Eastland First United Methodist Church.
