Lois Marie Strain, 86 of Gordon, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Gordon. Burial will follow in the New Gordon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn Friday, 6~8 p.m.
Lois was born November 23, 1931 in Weatherford to George D. and Lena McCarty Cummins. She graduated from Millsap High School and attended Business College and worked for 19 years as the office clerk for Brazos Electric. She married Richard (R.B) Dick Strain in Weatherford on January 29, 1952. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Quilting Club, Church Choir and the Gordon Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters: Dollie Bleyl, Lorene McCarty, Zenda Meadows, Ina Mae Berkley and Lula Faye Bell, and 3 brothers: Eddie, Larry, and Glenn Cummins, and her loving husband of 65 years who preceded her just this year on January 2.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Cynthia Ann Brown and husband Charlie of Weatherford, and Debra Marlene Grace of Graham; 2 sons: Kris Richard Strain and wife Brenda of College Station, and Kevin Boyd Strain of Gordon; a sister, Norena Dermyer and husband Dan. Lois is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Lori Hill, Lena Hill-Clark, Laci Hill, Jeffrey Grace, Kelley Grace Schmidt, Andrea Strain Posson, Katie Strain Early, Athena MacFarland, Apollo Schindelheim, Mindy Wells, and Chuck Brown; and 20 great grandchildren: Logan, Ryan, Joshua and Hattie Grace; Margaret Clark, Emily and Grant Posson, Gracyn and Ella Early; Kyle and Colton Schmidt; Charlie and Catalina MacFarland; IceLynn, Dayton, Pacey and Ethan Brown; McCenzie and Macy Wells, and Neally Bankhead.
