Lonie Mae Carver, 94, of Morton Valley and formerly of many places across the West, including Colorado, Utah and West Texas, passed away Tuesday June 9, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger.
Mrs. Carver was born May 28, 1921 in Weatherford, TX to Emmitt Lucian Martin and Ellie Mae (Lee) Martin. She graduated from Ranger High School as the Valedictorian of her class. She was married to Aubrey Carver. He preceded her in death in 2007. She was a homemaker, owned a department store in Andrews, a dress shop in Abilene, and a beauty shop in Austin and helped out on two ranches, one in Colorado and the other in Eastland County. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking and was a member of the Cornell Bird Society.
Survivors include 3 sons, James Randolph “Jim” Carver – 56, Robert Glenn “Bob” Carver – 68, and David Reginald Carver – 62 and a brother, E. Leldon Martin. She enjoyed her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, most notably Christopher Carver and his children Persephone Carver, Alexander Carver, Jacob Carver, and Collette Carver.
The family has requested in lieu of sending flowers that a donation can be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation or other non-profit organization.
