Lorene Elaine Burke

Lorene Elaine (Lewter) Burke, 100 years of age, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, September 13th at Merriman Cemetery with Gary Montgomery officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Elaine was born October 4, 1916 in Hammon, Oklahoma to W.A and Gladys Lewter. She married Floyd Burke on December 25, 1938 in Hammon, OK, he preceded her in death on July 5, 2002.

Mr. Burke worked in the bank at Hammon for many years, and Elaine was a homemaker. They were both active in the community and church. Upon Mr. Burke’s retirement, they moved to Ranger (Lake Leon), Texas. Their final residence was Lakewood Retirement Village in Ft. Worth, TX, where they moved to in December 1993.

Survivors: Daughters, Phyllis Hay and Carolyn Wynn; son, David Burke; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson; and nieces Jody Hutchison and Susan Murphy.
