EASTLAND – Lossie Gilkey Poole, 91 years young, went home to be with her Savior, Monday, October 20, 2014. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 24 from 9-10am at Bakker Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 10:30am at the Eastland City Cemetery.
Lossie was born August 2, 1923 in Hamilton, TX to James (Buck) and Solora Graham Gilkey and was a graduate of Eastland High School. Lossie is a long-time resident of Eastland. She met the love of her life, Jake Poole while she was working at Eastland Drug Store when Jake came to town with Hunt Oil Co. Jake and Lossie were married February 25, 1945 in Eastland and began their adventurous life together which included over 40 years of traveling from state to state in the oil business. Lossie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eastland.
Lossie is preceded in death by her parents Buck and Solora Gilkey, brothers: James Gilkey Jr. and Edward Gilkey and her beloved husband of 68 years, Maxwell (Jake) Poole.
She is survived by a daughter: Sharon and her husband GV Hughes of Sulphur Springs, son: Max Jr. and his wife Pam Poole of Richland MS. Granddaughters: Rendee Bullard, Christina Oldham and husband Chris, Darby Papania and husband Larry, Laura Bullock and husband Ricky, and Gina Snyder and husband Doug and grandsons Jason Poole and wife Jessica and Greg Hughes and wife Kelly. Great grandchildren: Dylan Bullard, Victoria Oldham, Brooke Flores. Lossie is also survived by a niece, Lisa Sanders and nephews: Robert Gilkey, Billy Ed Gilkey and Michael Gilkey, a host of other nieces and nephews and cousins.
