EASTLAND – Richard Massey age 83, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Saturday, April 28 at home with his loving wife by his side. Services for Richard will be at 2 pm Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Leon River Cowboy Church in Olden. A time of visitation will be Monday before the service starting at 1 pm also at the Church. Burial will be at the Eastland City Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.
Louis Richard Massey was born on January 30, 1935 in Eastland County to James H. and Ruby Earl Nabors McGough Massey. He graduate from Eastland High School and attended one year of college. On February 5, 1955 he ran off and married Miss Sammie Jo Brown in Dallas and they have been constant companions for the last 63 years.
He worked 29 years for Haliburton, first as a machinist and then as supervisor and retired in 1985.
Richard was a 50 year member of the Masons, serving with the Estelle Lodge No. 582 in Euless, Texas. He was also a member of the Leon River Cowboy Church where he served on the Huggie Bear Committee. His job was to paint the stands.
Richard loved the ranching life and thoroughly enjoyed his goats and cows. He also enjoyed tinkering on cars. He was a gentle and loving whose first love was his family.
He is survived by his loving wife Sammie Jo Massey, grandchildren; Richie Oliver and wife Tiffany, Kelly Elder and husband Jason, and Billy Grimes and significant other Jesse, brother; Woodrow Carson McGough and wife Patricia and sister, Billie Sue McGough Heintschell and 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his precious daughter, Becky Ann Massey Grimes whom he is now celebrating in heaven with and a sister Glenn McGough Hughes.
Richard will be missed.
