Luther Vernon Foreman Jr.
Vern passed away peacefully in Eastland Memorial Hospital February 7, 2023. He was born
January 30, 1933 in Wayland, Texas, the son of Luther Vernon Foreman Sr. and Mary Ann
Lauderdale Foreman. In 1943, the family moved to Odessa, Texas.
Vern graduated from Odessa High School, Class of 1951. He attended Odessa College, and
then earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
Vern began working with his father at their company, Foreman Electric Company, Inc as a
teenager and eventually took over the business, continuing to work and serve the Permian
basin and surrounding area for over 60 years.
Vern married Charlotte Redwine Foreman in 1971, they recently celebrated 51 years together.
Vern served the community he loved in many ways. In his early career, with the Jaycees; as a
founding board member of the Odessa Boys and Girls Club; City Council, serving as mayor pro-
tem, Planning and Zoning Commission, Illuminating Engineering Society, Associated Builders
and Contractors, and more recently, Crime Stoppers and the Texas Ranger Association
Foundation. Vern was an honorary member of the Texas Rangers Company E
Throughout his life Vern enjoyed several hobbies: such as flying and deep sea fishing. One of
his favorite current pastimes was depleting the feral hog population of Stephens county. He
also enjoyed a good bird hunt and target practice from his atv.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Flint Nanny.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Foreman; sons Luther “Butch” Foreman III and wife Jona,
Billy Foreman; daughters Darlene Shaub, Lucy Riley and husband Greg, Monica Childs and
husband John; 13 grand children and 22 great grandchildren; his brothers Larry Foreman and
wife Linn; Dr. Michael Foreman and wife Leslie; sister Billie Lu Fielden and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at the Family cemetery in Stephens County, Texas on Saturday,
February 11, 2023, at 2:00pm.
Pallbearers will be Vern’s grandsons, along with an honorary Texas Ranger Guard
In lieu of flowers, It was Vern’s wish that donations be made to the Texas Ranger Association
