Lynda Heatherington Morris

Lynda Sue Heatherington Morris, born August 31, 1938, passed away
peacefully at her home on August 31, 2023. A Funeral Mass will be held
at 10:00 AM Monday, September 4, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church
in Strawn, Texas, with burial to follow at Old Gordon Cemetery in
Gordon, Texas. A visitation will take place and Rosary will be said from
3:00-5:00PM on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Edwards Funeral Home
in Strawn, Texas.
Lynda was a graduate from McCamey High School and received her
Master’s in counseling from Tarleton State University. She was an
educator for 28 years, serving as a teacher in Gordon and Strawn, and
later was employed as a diagnostician by both Mineral Wells I.S.D. and
Granbury I.S.D. She married Gene Morris in Graham, Texas in 1965
and was a devoted mother to her daughters Leslie and Andrea and son
Robert. Lynda had a strong devotion to the Catholic Faith and gave
many years of faithful service. She enjoyed quilting, gambling, and
having lunch with friends at Mary’s Café.
Lynda is preceded in death by parents D.A. Heatherington and Mabel
Harrison Heatherington; her husband of 31 years, Gene Morris; and her
brother James Heatherington.
She is survived by her son Robert Morris and fiancé, Karen Nelson of
Sugarland, Texas; daughter Leslie Crain of Gordon, Texas; daughter
Andrea Wimberly and husband, Ronny of Whitney, Texas; one brother,
Derwood Heatherington and wife, Linda of Cisco, Texas; grandchildren
Carolyn Dove and husband Brett, Kelly Crain and wife Kelley, India
Williams and husband Chris, Alex Morris, Robin Benesch and husband,
Michael, and Kendell Wimberly and wife Morgan; 9 Great-
grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and countless
beloved friends.

Her legacy will be remembered by all who knew her. Services are
