Madylene Atkins

Madylene “Mady” Cummings Atkins passed to eternal life with Jesus Christ on Monday, December 21, 2020 in Mineral Wells, Texas. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 23rd at Mount Marion Cemetery in Strawn, Texas. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 22nd at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn, Texas.
Mady was born December 1, 1935 near Millsap, Texas. She graduated from Polytechnic High School June 1954 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Mady married Wilbur Ray Atkins on April 17, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. They lived in Strawn, Texas and raised two sons, Johnny Jack and Darryl Ray. Mady was a homemaker and she was the lunchroom supervisor for the Strawn School for six years. She worked for Harval and Ranger Athletic sewing factories, Ranger Jr. College, and Edwards Funeral Home. Mady was a member of the First Baptist Church at Strawn where she taught youngsters in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many, many years.
Her survivors are sons, Johnny Jack Atkins and wife Teresa and Darryl Ray Atkins and wife Amy; grandsons, Cameron Atkins and wife Cheriee, Garrett Atkins and wife Savannah, and Julian Atkins; granddaughter, Tearany Atkins; great granddaughters, Lily Atkins, Desiree Berumen, Joanna Atkins, Piper Atkins, and Penelope Atkins. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
In lieu of flowers donations can be given in Mady’s name to the Frist Baptist Church in Strawn, Texas PO Box 574, Strawn, Texas 76475.
