Marie Charlene Blackwell, 92 of Ranger, went home to be with her Lord & Savior, Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 8th at the Mesquite & Rusk Church of Christ with Gary Murphy officiating; burial will follow in Cross Roads Cemetery. A viewing will begin one hour before the service at the church Friday morning. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Ranger.
Marie was born March 21, 1925 in Ranger to Herman A. Nerger and Helena M. (Manthey) Nerger. She married O.E. “Jack” Blackwell September 6, 1941 in Ranger, Texas. Together they both worked hard in the gasoline industry where she was the secretary for 17 years. Marie was an amazing seamstress that loved to sew, arts and crafts and was a great cook. She was no stranger to carpentry, and was a Shakely Distributor. Most of all Marie was a devoted Christian who attended the Church of Christ until she could not attend anymore.
Marie is survived by sons, Jimmy and Jerry Blackwell; daughters, Helen Cooper and Charlene Simpson; sisters, Polly Martin and Evelyn Reese; grandchildren, Lisa Cooper and Chance Simpson and wife Susan; and great-grandchild, Adalynn Simpson. She is preceded in death her parents, husband, brother, Chock Nerger, and grandson, Lance Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, if you choose, the family has requested a donation be made to the Church of Christ in Marie’s name.
