CARBON - Martha Wood, 77, died Friday, August 9, 2013. Funeral services are Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at Bakker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Simpson Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 5-7 at the funeral home.
Martha was born on September 28, 1935 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Elmer Earl Burke and Katherine Lillian (Sweeney) Burke.
She married James Wilbourne Wood on August 23, 1958 in Briggs, Texas. She devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a member of Carbon Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James W. Wood in 1997.
Survivors include her son: James and his wife, B.J. Wood of Stephenville, her daughter: Terri and her husband, Ed Duncan of Cross Plains, her sister: Katherine Carol Daugherty of Clinton, Montana, and her four grandchildren: Clay and Randy Duncan, and Shelby and Peyton Wood.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or Carbon Community Church.
