Our “Grammy” passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021 in Stephenville, Texas. Without a doubt, she was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was reunited with her mother, husband, sons, nephew, and many friends. What a celebration that must have been!
Mary was born April 9, 1930 to Leonard Kitchens and Margie Jennings Kitchens in Strawn, Texas. She married Hershel Gibson on June 1, 1947 in Mineral Wells, Texas.
We have laughed a million laughs and cried just as many tears together. Words cannot express how much we will miss you, Grammy. We will never forget how much you loved us. Mary was best known for her pride and love for her family through multiple generation. Her hobbies were reading, listening to Gospel music, watching Hallmark movies, and working on puzzles.
Huge thanks to the staff at Laurel Glen in Stephenville. They loved Grammy like their own. Solaris provided Hospice services and were absolutely wonderful. The family would like to mention Mary’s special friend, Linda Stallings of Strawn that was like a sister to her.
Mary’s survivors are son, Judd Gibson and wife Diana of Stephenville; daughter, Vicki Dunn and husband Tommy of Glen Rose; grandchildren, Heath Gibson, Clint Gibson, Sheila Surovik, Tyler Dunn, TW Dunn, Teryl Dunn, Austin Gibson, and Morgan Gibson; and 11 great grandchildren.
Edward’s Funeral Home in Strawn will assist in the services. Visitation will be held there on Saturday, October 2nd from 10:00-12:00. The graveside service will take place at the family cemetery, located at 3447 CR 119 in Gordon, at 1:00.
