Mary Lou Rexroat Fairclo, 95, passed away Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2023. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 with the service to follow at Lone Camp Baptist Church. Private burial following the service.
She was born on October 21, 1928 to Albert Fed Smith and Carrie Mallory Smith in Palo Pinto County. Her birthplace was at home in a small ranch house by Palo Pinto Creek on the Johnson League where her father was the ranch foreman for the Johnson Family.
She graduated from Gordon High School in 1946 where she was a cheerleader for the Gordon Longhorns.
She married Cleveland Rexroat Jr., also from Gordon, on September 11, 1946. Mary Lou and Cleveland welcomed and loved Rondal Bruce Rexroat of Alcalde, New Mexico and Linda Kay Wright (and husband Glenn) of Lone Camp, Texas.
They were married for almost 26 years before Cleveland died of cancer in 1972. She later married Robert “Bob” Tipton Fairclo on November 16, 1975 and they were married for 40 years until his death in 2015. Her marriage to Bob brought his two children, Bobbie Jean Fairclo Brown and Randall Lee Fairclo.
She worked for Fort Worth National Bank for twenty years. She was an active member of Birchman Baptist Church for over 60 years serving as Sunday School teacher, Livewires President and much more. She and Bob moved to Lone Camp in 2012 to be near her daughter who cared for them. They attended Lone Camp Baptist Church until their death.
Her church was important to her but not nearly as important to her as her 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Patsy Walton, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a prayer warrior and prayer partner to many, an encourager extraordinaire, and a sweet, loving and caring friend.
She knew her Savior, Jesus, and is in His presence for eternity, exactly where she wanted to be.
Memorials may be made to Lone Camp Baptist Church Hospitality Committee, 108 Hoover Rd, Palo Pinto, Texas 76484
