Maybelle Swinson Trout

Maybelle Trout passed away Wednesday September 30, 2020 in Eastland. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at the Eastland City Cemetery with David Hullum officiating and under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. The family requests that anyone attending the service please wear a mask.
Maybelle was born August 8, 1929 in Cisco to Cicero Van Swinson and Emmie Cordelia (Reeves) Swinson. She married Lester Olen Trout on February 3, 1947 in Eastland County. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1983. She began working as a correspondent for Abilene Reporter News in 1975 and continued for several years. She worked as Eastland’s Welcome Hostess for 15 years, and was caregiver to several people including her parents, and several people in nursing homes, and her husband’s grandmother, Nettie Trout. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Eastland where she had served as a board member. She was also a board member with Crime Stoppers, volunteered at Eastland County Food Pantry, Christian Service Center, and Senior Citizens for many years.
She was also preceded in death by 6 siblings, Luther “L.C.” Cicero, Homer Alf, Byrdie Lee, Emmie Mardell, Margaret Lamoine (Patsy), and Van LaVada.
Survivors include a son, Joe Trout; daughters, Vicki Seay, Wendy Porter (Don), and Melody Barr (Bob); 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Lee Maxwell.
The family would like to express their appreciation to their home caregivers and caregivers from The Woodlands.
