Melvin H. Delaney, age 80, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Ft. Worth, TX. Services for Melvin will beat 1 PM Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, 411 S. Mulberry, Eastland, TX. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Sunday, September 24 also at the funeral Home. Burial will be at the Merriman Cemetery south of Ranger.
Melvin was born February 21, 1937 in Stamford, TX to William Hubert and Edith Fox Delaney. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Abilene Christian College and went on to receive his Masters from East Texas State in Commerce, TX. He worked for a short time as a Band Director then became a Real Estate Broker owning his own Real Estate Business. Melvin finally retired at the young age of 78.At different times he was a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club.
Melvin loved to go hunting and was a life-long member of the NRA. He also enjoyed family genealogy and spent hours researching his history. He was a member of the Daugherty Street Church of Christ.
Melvin is survived by his children William Delaney and wife Teresa, Laura Dye and husband Coby, and Melvin Delaney, Jr. and wife Cecille and 8 grandchildren: Jarred Fender, Kathryne Rusche and husband Tyson, Michael Dye and wife Lauren, James Dye, Clara Delaney, Liliana Delaney, Fox Delaney, and Levi Delaney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patty; and one brother, Dewey Delaney.
