Melvin Mitchel Finch

Melvin Mitchel Finch, 53, of Gordon passed away Sunday, November 4th, 2018. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 8th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 9th at the First Baptist Church in Gordon with Rev. Mike Orsini officiating; burial will follow in the New Gordon Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn. Mitchel was born on January 18, 1965, to Marvin M. “Tuffy” Finch and Ruby Faye (Dyer) Finch in Stephenville, Texas. He was a member of the Gordon Longhorn football, basketball, track, baseball, tennis, and golf teams and graduated from Gordon High School in 1983. He was also was a member of the Gordon Baptist church where he participated in youth group activities and attended Camp Copass for several years. After graduating high school, Mitchel attended Ranger Junior College, Tarleton State University and Weatherford College. He worked for Norton’s / St. Gobain in Stephenville. He enjoyed sports of all varieties, particularly college football and his Dallas Cowboys. Mitchel is survived by his mother, Ruby Faye Finch, aunt Rudene Elkins, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, sister Dianne Stidham, and brother Gerald Finch.
