Mildred Sharp Squiers, 85, of Eastland, passed from this life on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Valley View Healthcare Center. Funeral arrangements are with Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. Visitation will be Saturday, March 2, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. Services will be on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. Interment will be at Eastland Cemetery. The Rev. Steven McCaslin of Weatherford will officiate.
Mildred was born on November 15, 1927, in Olden, Texas, to Thomas and Effie Beatrice "Pug" (Elliott) Sharp. Mildred was a woman of many talents and held a variety of positions including: working at the family owned Squiers Farm Store, seamstress at Hollywood Vassarette, business clerk at Ranger Hospital and for Dr. Watkins in Ranger, owner and manager of Old Rip Café in Eastland, proprietor of Mildred's Fabrics, and retired as a business office clerk at Medical Plaza Center in Fort Worth.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, by sisters Vivan Kile and Tommie June Sharp, son Charles Squiers, and daughter Anna Matthias.
Survivors include son Dwight Squiers; grandchildren Lisa Squiers Hutcheson, Kim Squiers McCaslin, Thomas Squiers, and Chip Matthias; great-grandchildren Skyler Hutcheson Seaton, Cody Hutcheson and Tyler McCaslin; great-great grandchildren Rayleigh Hutcheson and Hunter Seaton; sisters Bettie Gray and Anna Mae Sharp; son-in-law Hugh Matthias; and her cousins Pat Schafer, Martha Burns, Norma Ferguson, and Jettie Butler.
The family is especially grateful to the cousins listed in this obituary who cared for Mildred in her last years and especially in her last few days.
