Nancy Elaine Trout

Nancy Elaine Trout, 80 of Eastland, passed away Wednesday August 10, 2016 in Eastland. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Rex Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland Sunday, 4~6 p.m.
Nancy was born September 1, 1935 to William L. (Pap) Wright and Lee Eula (Nena) Pettus Wright in Eastland, where she graduated high school in 1952. She married Gene Trout on December 30, 1953 in Eastland. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1995. She worked for Eastland County for 34 years, retiring in 1996 as Tax Collector. She was a faithful member of the Gunsight Baptist Church where she would do anything for anybody and was right in the middle of things until her health declined. She was a member of the Texas Extension Education Club in Olden, and charter member of the Eastland County Crime stoppers program. She drove a church van for Riddle St. Baptist Church in Ranger where she picked up children to take to church. She loved to quilt and donated one of her quilts to the West TX Rehabilitation Center each year to be auctioned off. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful cook, especially the countless cakes she had baked through the years. She loved cooking and sharing with others especially at Easter and Christmas time. She had a passion for animals, especially her dogs, and loved feeding the birds and hummingbirds. She was an avid Texas Rangers fan. She loved butterflies and the color purple. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels and made each person something special each month.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Wright; and 3 sisters, Norma Meroney, Jane Lenz and Virginia Ogden.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Kathy Jean Steinbrecher & husband Steve of Phoenix, AZ, and Donna Elaine Rodgers of Eastland; a grandson, Chris Trout of Eastland, who she raised and considered a son; and a sister, Mary Jeffus.
