O. "Spot" Hale

October 3, 1911 — January 28, 2013

O.C. "Spot" Hale, 101, of Eastland, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 in Eastland. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Daugherty St. Church of Christ with Larry Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the Eastland City Cemetery directed by Edwards Funeral Home. Spot was born on October 3, 1911 in Longworth, TX to W.A. Hale and Myrtle Arnold Hale. He married Madeline "Tootie" Hall on December 24, 1932 in Sweetwater. Spot was a long-time rancher, owned several service stations, and owned and operated Mercury Ambulance Service in Sweetwater. Mrs. Hale preceded him in death on December 3, 2004. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Survivors include his daughter, Sandy Stephenson and husband Roger of Eastland; 2 brothers, Jack W. Hale of Andrews and James A. Hale of Ft. Worth; 3 grandchildren, Brad Stephenson and wife Mindy of Eastland, Britt Stephenson and wife, Christi of Houston, and Kyle Stephenson Rowland of Brenham; 7 great-grandchildren, Sean and wife Kristi, Will and fiancé Ellysa, Tip, Ryan and wife Heather, Taylor , Derek, and Reese; 3 great-great-grandsons, Vaughn, Regan Britt and Rhett; and very special friends and caregiver's, Randy and Roberta Dunahoe. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to Foster Children's Home, PO Box 978, Stephenville, TX 76401.
