EASTLAND – Paula Marie Barker, age 71 years young, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, October 8, 2020 at her home. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 12 at Macedonia Cemetery located on FM 717 north of Ranger, TX. Family and friends will gather from 3 – 5 pm on Sunday, October 11 at Edwards Funeral Home, 411 S. Mulberry, Eastland, TX.
Paula was born December 19, 1948 in Monahans, TX to Wayne “Curly” and Gloria Bennie Summa Faulkner. After graduating high school, she attended UT Tyler where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree and became a teacher. She taught math in Mineral Wells and retired from Ranger Jr. High where she taught math and computer technology. On March 14, 1969 she married Jessie Carl Barker in Wink, TX. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2016.
Paula loved genealogy and researching her family’s Scottish heritage even having a precious Scottie dog named Bonnie. She loved to travel and was able to see a lot of places with her husband. Her greatest loves were that of her family and her church family. She was a faithful member of the Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland.
She is survived by her son, Carl Barker and daughter, Karen Volpitta and husband John, grandchildren; Kasey and Cory Bullock, Korey and Sam Green, Krista and Jared Matlock, Keith “Fuzzy” and Elizabeth Volpitta, Gus and Chanda Barker, Sam and Savannah Barker, Hali Barker and Morgan Barker, great-grandchildren; Maddi and Emma Bullock, Mary, Jessie and Ruby Green, Gideon, Teagan, and Asher Marlock, Joanna Volpitta, and Estella Barker. She is also survived by a brother; Frank Faulkner and a sister Beth Ream and husband Robert and numerous nieces and nephews.
