Porfirio Lopez

Porfirio Lopez, Age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 5th, 2020.
A visitation/Rosary will be held between 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 7th at St. John’s Catholic Church in Strawn, TX. Services for Porfirio will be at 10am Wednesday, January 8th also at St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Marion Cemetery in Strawn under the direction of Edward’s Funeral Home.
Porfirio Lopez was born September 15th, 1928 in Sherman, TX to Juan and Rosa Trevino-Lopez. On July 2, 1946, he married Julia Garcia in Ludington, Michigan. In 1957, he moved from Edinburg, Tx to Strawn, Tx. Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly as a migrant worker and cutting cedar. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed being outside making improvements on his home and was quite a good storyteller, but his greatest passion was spending time with his grandkids and family.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Julia. Sons; Juan Lopez, David Lopez, Tomas Lopez. Daughters; Gloria Olvera, Dora Berumen, Oralia Casanova, Sylvia Espinoza, Maria Parsons, Esmeralda Martinez, 38 Grandchildren and 97 great grandchildren. His sisters, Valentina Silva, Sally Lopez, Rosemary Paulus and numerous nieces and nephews.
Porfirio is proceeded in death by his parents Juan and Rosa, brothers; Isabel Lopez, Epifanio Lopez, and Raul Lopez, Sisters; Felicita Cantu, Louisa Vela, Paula Lopez, Inez Parker, and Ermina Lopez.
