Raul Herrera, 77, of Eastland, passed away Tuesday morning in Abilene. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Eastland. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Smith, Joe Fernandez, Rolando Fernandez, Nick Herrera, Robert Gallegos, and Eric Herrera.
Mr. Herrera was born on August 19, 1936 in Weslaco, Texas to Manuel Herrera and Vicenta Trevino Herrera. He was a graduate of Eastland High School, later serving in the U.S. Army. He married Cindy Gallegos on August 30, 1960 in Eastland. He was a member of the Catholic Church as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Manuel Herrera, George Herrera, and Lupe Herrera.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Herrera; a son, Addy Herrera; and a daughter, Rosemary Herrera all of Eastland; 4 brothers, Sammy Herrera, Ernie Herrera, Joe Herrera, and Tommy Herrera; 6 sisters, Mary Fernandez, Irene Smith, Sally Lopez, Carmen Swinson, Felipa Sandoval, and Esther Herrera. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
