Richard Dick Evatt, 89, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on January 1, 2024, in Kerrville. Richard was born in Hamlin, Texas to Jim and Myrtle Evatt on September 25, 1934. Richard married Annette Sherman Evatt on December 5, 1959.

Richard went to school at Eastland High School, Eastland, Texas. He was a member of the Maverick football team and qualified for the state track meet for the Eastland Mavericks. Richard worked as an electrical lineman for West Texas Utilities. He worked his way up to become a local manager for West Texas Utilities/American Electric Power. He was local manager at Quitaque, Chillicothe, Rotan, and Knox City, Texas. Richard retired from American Electric Power in 1994 with 34 years of service. Richard served in the United States Army. Richard was involved in numerous organizations throughout his life including the local Lions Club, where he held numerous offices. Richard was a member of the Salvation Army where he donated his time to serve others. He volunteered and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, Texas.

Richard Dick Evatt was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Myrtle Evatt.

Survivors include wife, Annette Sherman Evatt; son, James and daughter-in-law Shelly Evatt of Kerrville, Texas; daughter, Sheri and son-in-law Larry Garrett of Nashville, Tennessee; brother, Clyde and sister-in-law, Ann Evatt of Rosenburg, Texas; grandchildren, Meaghann Dietz, Wesley Evatt, Tiffanie Evatt, Seth Easton, Sarah Garrett and Cheyanne Magee; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 12 pm to 2pm, Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas. Inurnment will follow the visitation at Eastland City Cemetery.

The family wishes instead of flowers that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association or your local hospice organization.

The Evatt family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nursing staff at Hilltop Village Nursing and Rehab and Peterson Hospice. These folks are true angels on Earth when it comes to taking care of our loved ones in the time of need.
