Richard Dale Waters, 82 of Flower Mound and formerly of Ranger passed away Thursday December 8, 2016. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Leon Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Ranger.
He was born February 2, 1934 in Sayre, OK to C.E. Waters and Opal (Lakey) Waters. He graduated from Hardin Simmons University where he studied Psychology and Ministry. He studied Church growth at Fuller Theological Seminary. He then received his Doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he studied Evangelism and Missions. He married Letty Frasier on February 25, 1955 in Ranger. He was President and Founder of Waters Life Changing Ministries, served multiple Interims, and was Director of Missions serving the Cisco, TX area. He served in Music/Youth at FBC in Ranger, and Cleburne. He served as Pastor in Pantex, TX, FBC in Eric, OK, Highland Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX, FBC in Tulsa, OK, and FBC in Palestine, TX. He was a member of the Kiwanis in Lubbock, and enjoyed golf, gardening, and painting.
Survivors include his wife, Letty Waters; two sons, Rick Waters, and Tim Waters; a daughter, Tricia Blair; daughter-in-law’s Kay Waters and Janet Waters, a brother, Curtis Waters; a sister, Judy Sauer; grandchildren, Stephanie Waters, Jarod Waters and spouse Rachael Waters, Lindsey Waters and spouse RJ Stalcup, Merrideth Hodge and spouse Jordan Hodge, Micah Blair, Mackenzi Blair, Asia Waters, Jacob Waters, and Caleb Waters; and great-grandchildren, Mia, Everett, and Julayne.
